Objectives of Diaspora Africa Konnect at Africa Celebrates 2023
- Create awareness to the Diaspora of current business and investment opportunities in the continent leveraging on AfCFTA, particularly priority value chains;
- Provide an opportunity for government, business, and diaspora engagement to unlock opportunities that can be deplored by all parties;
- Advocate for supportive policies for investments by Diaspora on the Continent;
- Create a friendly environment for Diaspora and African engagements through the participation in African Union activities;
Target Audience
The event seeks broad participation from Africa’s public and private sectors as well as strategic investors from focus value chains, including Heads of Government, Private sector leaders, financial institutions, investment promotion agencies, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Business Councils, Chambers of Commerce, Leading African Women Business organizations, Multinationals, Academia; Regional Media, CIDO and the Diaspora.

Gala Fashion & Award Night
Festivities of Africa Celebrates 2023 will culminate into a gala fashion & award night. This fashion event will be the 7th edition of the Africa Fashion Reception in Addis Ababa and the first in the United States. The event will be presenting fashion designers from all over Africa. Only 1 designer will be nominated to represent each country. Guests will be welcomed through a red-carpet cocktails’ arrival. Special recognition awards will be bestowed on deserving Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora. These are Africans who have contributed to the advancement of the continent in one way or the other.
Dress Code for the Gala Fashion & Awards Night
Dress African
As has always been the tradition of the AFR since inception in 2013, the dress code for guests is ‘glamorously African clothes’. This is an opportunity for all guests attending the AFR to show off the various dress cultures from across Africa. For non-Africans or friends of Africa intending to attend, they too can dress Africa by shopping for clothes during the 3 days exhibition preceding the gala event by African designers from across the continent.
Africans In The Diaspora
One of the major goals of Africa Celebrates is to celebrate Africa’s unity in diversity through integration. It is a platform for Africans in the diaspora to integrate and reconnect with Africa. Africa Celebrates is an open invitation back to the motherland.
